“You Are A Trumpet!” John Belt

God has given us powerful weapons of warfare that are mighty through His Spirit.  He made us with the power to speak, shout and make sound that tears down the powers of darkness. When our lives are lived with pure hearts in His presence there is nothing that can stand against the glory of God released through us.
Creative Power

Everything God has made in creation is original and diverse in it’s own way.  We can look at everything He made and see the beauty in it both individually and as a whole.  If all the things He made looked the same it would be very boring picture.  But God knows what He is doing.  He is the author and creator of life making all things good by the power of voice.  The Voice of the Lord is powerful bringing all things into existence.

Being created in the image of God we too have creative power.  We hold the ability to transform atmospheres, speak things into existence and cause life to come forth by the power of the Holy Spirit that lives within us.  Our tongue is one of the most powerful forces that we have in our human make-up.

James 3:6
“And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell.”

The human tongue is a “world of iniquity”.  But we know that was not the case with Jesus.  When Jesus spoke it was releasing the “world of glory”. When Jesus spoke the glory realm of God was released and caused life to come forth in every place He spoke. Our tongue is a powerful force the devil has no ability to contradict.  Just as John states, “When God spoke light was released and the darkness could not comprehend it.”  The powers of darkness cannot compete with the “world of glory” that is released through abandoned vessels of the Kingdom of God!   He who is in us is much, much greater than he who is in this world. The power of the Glory of God wipes out every resistance and leaves the enemy whimpering on the floor.
Clean Vessels

Understanding the power of our tongue we need to realize how important it is for us to be in alignment with the right kingdom.  If God’s people are speaking foolishness, gossip and talking about other behind their backs they are empowering darkness and in sin as well bringing themselves into bondage.  The goal of the enemy is to bring division in the Body of Christ.  There is no excuse for speaking about others in a negative manner. Our call is to honor others.  This does not mean we agree on everything, but we need to have enough decency to keep our mouths silent.  If anyone has been caught in this trespass then the cure is “be quick to repent”.  Repentance is more powerful than apology.  We can say we are sorry all day long.  It is better to just change directions.  This is the fruit of our repentance.   We are to be in line with Jesus who ever lives to intercede for all the saints.

Hebrews 7:25
Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.

The Priestly Life

It is our priestly responsibility to stay pure without compromise before the Lord.  We are a kingdom of priests that must wear the golden band across our minds that says, “HOLINESS TO THE LORD”.  It has not changed.  It is this dedication, commitment and integrity that will cause the substance of His power to be released in us and through us.

It is His grace that makes us His priests.  It is our purity that enables us to carry His glory and release that glory of His presence in the longevity of time.  We must go higher and deeper.  A tree will only last so long if grows high and it’s roots are shallow.  That tree will come falling down dead.  It is the same way with His glory.  If our roots don’t go deeper into Him while our experiences take us into the heavens we will come crashing down.  Integrity, purity and selfless devotion are not an option for us. They are mandatory.  Jesus could do nothing apart from the Father. His devotion to Him was pure and lacked nothing.

You Are a Trumpet!

Numbers 10:8-9
“And the sons of Aaron, the priests, shall blow with the trumpets; and they shall be to you for an ordinance for ever throughout your generations. And if ye go to war in your land against the enemy that oppresseth you, then ye shall blow an alarm with the trumpets; and ye shall be remembered before the Lord your God, and ye shall be saved from your enemies.”

The priests were commanded to blow the trumpets in battle. Through this the Lord would grant them victory.  There is power in the priestly life where we can release our voice like a trumpet and see the Lord wipe out our enemies.  Our bodies are created much like a speaker cabinet.  We have a bass woofer and a tweeter. The power comes from the bass woofer, the belly & chest area.  The tweeter is our nasal area.  Not a lot of power in the nasals.  Still, a little goes a long way and it is needed.  But from deep within our spirit we can release a sound that breaks the power of darkness.

Psalms 149:6
Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in their hand;

Lifting the high praise is like blowing the trumpet of your being.  When are our hearts and motives are pure there is a glorious release that can occur as we lift our voices like trumpets!   See your enemy, see your resistance, see the thing that you need to overcome, see the breakthrough that you need and begin to lift your voice as a trumpet in praise to God over these things!

Our Trust, Motivation & Sacrifice by John Belt

This is a word I shared at our local congregation just recently on Fasting.  What it is and what it is not.  We have started at 21 day corporate fast to pursue the heart of God.
Story of Extremes

Hebrews 12:2
Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Fasting is one of the greatest weapons that God has revealed to us to move into greater glory and power seeing His kingdom manifested in the earth.

Realizing this though is not enough.  Something that should and needs to be removed when it comes to fasting or before someone embarks on a fast is a “performance mindset”. Most people’s church experience has involved a whole lot of performance, legalism, rules, “to do lists” that have turned out nothing more than disappointed, burned-out, disillusioned people. Before anyone should begin fasting they need to have a revelation and understanding of the work of Christ. What Jesus has accomplished on the cross is complete for us.  There is nothing that can be added to what He has done.  Our works are as filthy rags and do not help anything. Just the opposite, our works separate us from God when they are rooted in self.  Our trust is completely in Him.

Years ago I had a friend who committed to a 40 day fast.  On the 39th day of the fast he ate and fell under condemnation.  Because of this he went on another 40 day fast trying to accomplish what he felt God has told him to do.  In this fast he also broke it before it was supposed to be over. At this point he had lost his mind and his parents had to put him in a mental facility.  The reason I share this is so you see a little deeper the effects of a works mindset entrenched with legalism.  This kind of performance thinking throws people into extremes, condemnation when things do not go right and more of a feeling of “self-accomplishment” when they do.  One is no better than the other.  Pride works in both directions.

Our Trust & Motivation

Galatians 6:14-15
But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but a new creation.

Our trust must be firmly found in the cross.  Our motivation for fasting must be out of relationship.  If someone fails to fast what they have committed to then there needs to be enough freedom that they quit at any time with no guilt or go ahead and finish the fast for the final days.  But God’s grace must be established in our hearts.

One of the main things to remember is that fasting is not about us.  If someone fails to follow through in finishing a fast it is not a big deal.  If it is about the Lord I believe God is big enough to handle it.  God is looking at the heart.  He appreciates the effort.  He really does! Religious people are always hard on themselves and others.  Our hearts must overflow with grace for others and us.

Living Sacrifice Expressed

Romans 12:1
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.

Fasting is one of the ways we can express the life of living sacrifice.  When we sacrifice something that is valuable to us it is truly a sacrifice. There are many views on what a fast looks like.  My perspective is that fasting primarily involves food.  Food is very valuable to most people.  That is why television can have so many commercials promoting food.  We even have the Food Network.  I even like to watch it.  If we were to compare, food feasting and gluttony might be one of the idols in the Old Testament.  It is definitely a problem and gluttony and epidemic here in America.  The bottom line is sacrifice has to do with something we don’t want to part ways with.  It is precious to us and not to be given away.  David said he would not offer to the Lord anything that cost him nothing.  Fasting costs all of us something.  Fasting is a good thing when we do it out of a motivation to be closer to the Lord, to hear His heart and to follow His desires.  But it does not earn us any points.  All the points were scored when Jesus gave His life on the cross.   Therefore we can receive grace to fast because of what He has already accomplished.
Sometimes I think God will even cause someone not to completely fulfill a fast just because He wants them to trust in Him more than to be proud of their accomplishment.  Whatever the case the point is to be free and depend on His grace for the fast.

Some other beautiful things about fasting is that our sensitivity to the Holy Spirit rises.  Like a barometer, our sensitivity to the things of the world goes down while our God consciousness goes up.   God does not want us to be a self-conscious people.  He wants us to be conscious of Him.  After saying this, someone might be thinking, “Oh! But the struggle of feeling the need for food.”  This is true at times. His grace is sufficient. Remember to always spend extra time in worship, prayer and the Word.   Make Him your mediation.  Makes all the difference.

Absolute Peace

Absolute Peace Instrumental was birthed in a place of wanting peaceful anointed music for a new baby Nethaniel.  Nethaniel was born February 16th, 2010.  We were playing the instrumental in the delivery room the entire time.  Nurses kept coming in and out asking about where the music came from.  I would have told them heaven!  But the atmosphere was thick with the peace of God during the entire time there.  Needless to say, this is a “baby friendly” instrumental but is created for all to soak in the peace of God that passes all understanding!

Real Lives Living in Real Victory by John Belt

In our lives we deal with things constantly as we are moving to obey God and be used by Him to see His Kingdom manifested in the earth.  In this we need wisdom in how to wage war and how to maintain our relationships in His grace.

Grace to Overcome

John 5:4
For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world–our faith.

We all have tough times, hard things to deal with.  Much of this we wish we never had.  But these things we must overcome learning to lean on His grace to do so.  His grace is amazing. It really is what we need to be victorious in this life.  Victory means something.  It means success and conquest.  It should be a term that we incorporate in our lives regularly because it has all to do with moving into the promise land of God both individually and corporately.  We should like to hear the word “victory” because this is the place that God has established for us.  He has given us His promises that we may be partakers in His divine nature.  Our trust is in Him and our victory is sure.  Double the trouble means double the blessing!

James 1:2-4
My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

Victory is a term or being the winner in a war and a battle.  We are in a war and we have many battles.  The more battles we win the more victorious we are and the more promotion we receive from the Lord.  God will keep giving us the same battles over and over again until we win. Then we can move on to some others. And we are to count it all joy because no matter what kind of battle it is, they all work for our good, growth, understanding and knowing Him above all.  Knowing Him because in the midst of these battles, in order to be victorious, we have to lean on Him.  He has a vast supply of grace for us.  All we need to do is access it.  Access, access and keep accessing to keep conquering.

In dealing with the devil we go with the authority of Christ as the Lion in command disposing of him, binding his power and breaking his hold in whatever way it applies to grab hold of victory in our relationships, life and taking ground.  In dealing with people we are much more like the Lamb of God laying down our lives for one another, embracing the humility that allows us to forgive, receive grace and grow in our relationships.

The Release of Intercession

Romans 8:26-27
Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

The Lord, so many years ago, taught me that if we don’t release our voice in prayer to Him we will release it in frustration and in the flesh toward others.  There is an intercession that is within us because of the nature of how we are made in Christ.  It is the intercession of the Holy Spirit that must be released for us to win the battles in our lives.  We can talk, talk, talk all day long trying to persuade and do what we feel needs done in our own flesh.  The bottom line is our intercession in the Spirit needs released to bring release within us then obtaining the victory for us in whatever battle it applies.  A good rule is to always release our spirit in time with God rather than release our opinions outside of this time.  Our opinions are not worth a hill of beans.  God truth is the plumbline that we measure all things to.  Our love factor must be raised so that His glory can be released.  Our love is action that is even released in our prayers.  Our doing a bunch of things can just merely be our own flesh making us think we are accomplishing something when in reality we are not.  A woman by the name of Anna served God day and night with fasting and prayers.  This was love in action.  Our time with God is the foundation for victory and heaven’s activity in our midst.

His Blessings and Peace be Yours,

John Belt
